Sultan Cheema

President

Growing up in rural America has shown me that health outcomes depend on whether patients feel heard, can navigate, and access care. My experience witnessing my parents navigating care in the face of language barriers, limited access, and finanical contraints have taught me how important trust and cultural competency are in patient-physician relationships. I want to pursue medicine to promote access to care for underserved communities and help patients overcome systemic barriers that keep them from receiving timely and effective treatment. I was drawn to Phi Delta Epsilon because of its commitment to equity, service, and professional development, reflecting the kind of physician I hope to become. Through Phi Delta Epsilon, I have found a community that emphasizes mentorship and accountability, reinforcing my aspiration to practice medicine with excellence and responsibility to the communities I will one day serve.

Siyaa Bhargava

Vice President of Progamming

I chose medicine because I am passionate about helping patients navigate some of the most vulnerable and uncertain moments of their lives. Through clinical experiences, I have come to learn that healing is not just about treating disease, but tying that to understanding the patient’s lived experience and supporting their personal goals toward health. I am a part of Phi Delta Epsilon because it embodies this balance between scientific rigor and compassionate care. PhiDE has given me a community of like-minded individuals that value service, ethical action, leadership, and a commitment to improving healthcare beyond bedside. Being part of PhiDE has helped me grow not only as a premedical student, but also as a person, and continues to shape my journey toward a career in medicine.

Vice President of Recruitment

Growing up in a country where community and mutual support are central values shaped who I am and how I see the world. I was raised to believe that caring for others and giving back is a responsibility, not just a choice. When I moved to the United States, I became more aware of the differences in healthcare access, which strengthened my desire to serve and advocate for communities like my own. I chose this path because it allows me to combine my passion for science with meaningful, human connection and service. Phi Delta Epsilon reflects these same values by providing a supportive community of future physicians who are driven, and service-oriented, encouraging me to grow while surrounding me with people who inspire me to become the best physician I can be.

I chose medicine because I have always known that I want to help people—while holding myself to the highest standard possible. I want to ensure that I provide every patient with the best care I can, recognizing that even the smallest actions can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life. For that reason, I was drawn to Phi Delta Epsilon. I wanted to surround myself with individuals who share the same passion, values, and commitment to service that inspire me. Being part of a community that not only engages in medically focused initiatives but also fosters genuine friendships through social events is incredibly meaningful. That balance is not always common in the traditional pre-med environment, and I am grateful to be part of a space where I can pursue my passion for medicine alongside others who are equally driven and supportive.

Secretary/Risk Management Officer (SRMO)

Medicine, to me, has always been about restoring power to those who feel powerless. I understand the vulnerability of facing medical uncertainty while navigating a healthcare system that may fail to provide equitable care due to one’s appearance, disabilities, financial status, or sexuality, and I sincerely hope to become a physician who challenges these barriers every day to ensure that people are receiving the care they deserve. My experiences have shaped and strengthened my desire to serve the underserved communities I belong to while advocating for a healthcare system that uplifts every person it treats by addressing their physical, mental, and social ailments. Phi Delta Epsilon has become an important part of my journey because of its strong commitment to equity and service. Within PhiDE, I have found a home that values diverse experiences and empowers its members to use their stories to drive meaningful change in medicine and society.
